Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers must provide a full physical driving licence with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 3 year(s).

For foreign renters, you need to bring:

Original driving licence + International Driving Permit (IDP)

Please note that an International Driving Permit(IDP) is only a translation.You must present your original driving licence with the original IDP at the counter.

For local renters, you need to bring:

Full driver's license issued in Switzerland

Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, Finland, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom, Ireland, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Italy, The Republic of San Marino

If you are EU resident and drive a vehicle with Swiss registration and number plate, you are only allowed to drive the vehicle for 8 consecutive days outside of in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. You must not take the vehicle into the EU for more than 8 consecutive days, except for the purpose of directly returning to your place of residence in the EU, which must be stated on your rental agreement

If you buy Travel East cover, you can expect to pay between CHF 42.12 and CHF 52.00 a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get cover for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
