I specifically chose a store in downtown Zagreb when booking the car and even picked nearby accommodation. But when we went to pick up the car, the store was closed. We had to trouble the landlord to take us by taxi to the airport store to get the car. This information was not updated online in time, wasting our money and time, and we got caught in a heavy rain.
Average. The rental company didn't inform me in advance through any channel that I needed to bring two credit cards. They insisted, 'no card, no car,' which made me very angry. No matter how I explained or offered to pay a cash deposit, it didn't help. I had no choice but to return to the hotel to get another credit card. But what if I hadn't brought another one when I left the country? Would I have paid but not gotten the car? Unbelievable.
We rented a car in Seville and a hotel staff member crashed into our car. The rental company immediately charged our credit card. We had purchased the super insurance from the rental company, but it's been three months, and they refuse to compensate us for various reasons. We regret not buying the rental company's full insurance. We've never had an accident before, and it feels like the rental company's insurance is a joke. I strongly recommend everyone to buy the rental company's insurance directly—do not purchase insurance from the rental company. Learn from my experience. It looks like I'll have to go through the insurance regulatory agency for this.
The procedures were very smooth. They changed the pickup location to one closer to my hotel directly at the pickup site. However, the in-store staff suggested buying full insurance, which was quite expensive. The cost of full insurance for 9 days was the same as 9 days of car rental. Everything else was great. The car was relatively new.
The company's service is good, the procedures were handled quickly, and there are plenty of vehicles. I booked a Golf but received a brand new BMW 318 instead. They did not excessively upsell insurance products at the counter. Overall, I am satisfied.
I always use Avis when renting a car abroad. It's pretty good, but sometimes their process is quite slow.
