Chose a Jeep Compass, drove back to the hotel, a ten to twenty minute drive, and smelled a burning odor when parking. It was either the brakes or near the engine. It troubled me all night. They replaced it with a Ford Escape the next day, almost messing up my itinerary.
The service at the counter was quick and the staff were fairly friendly, although they did try to sell insurance. The Jeep Grand Cherokee I booked online wasn't available, but they gave me a Chevrolet SUV instead (I guess there aren’t many Grand Cherokees and it's just a gimmick online). Overall, Alamo’s cars aren't new, but the condition is acceptable, though the interior was a bit dirty.
Picking up and exchanging the car was easy, but the location for exchanging the car was hard to find with the GPS; we circled around before finding the entrance.
They added services I didn't need. The GPS was advertised as free on the rental website, but it wasn't actually free.
