Despite booking early, there were no Mercedes C-Class cars available, and there was no option to upgrade to a higher class car even with extra payment. Reluctantly, I had to accept a Passat with a small refund.
I booked a Nissan X-Trail, but ended up with a Ford Kuga. I could have overlooked the downgrade, but the biggest issue was that the car showed engine problems less than 20 kilometers in. The accelerator wouldn’t respond properly, limiting the speed to around 80 km/h, so I had to creep slowly to Goreme. The next day, the engine warning light disappeared, and I thought the car was fine. However, after driving for three hours and refueling, it wouldn’t start. After numerous attempts, I realized the engine might be finished, so I called for a tow. The customer service said this is a common issue with Ford cars, and it would work again after resting for an hour. It took four hours for the car to start, but the speed was still low, and it would occasionally stall at low speeds, making it very dangerous. I had one instance of stalling in the middle of the road. I had enough and requested a replacement car. Customer service said I could switch at Antalya Airport. After altering my route to Antalya Airport, they said they couldn’t exchange it as no prior notice was given. I provided them with Budget’s Kayseri office number, but they still refused. When I called Kayseri’s office, they said they couldn’t help me anymore. By then, it was midnight. Frustrated, I completed the rest of the trip with the problematic car, which luckily didn't stall again, although the speed issue persisted. I advise against choosing a Ford if you have bad luck and they don’t have your booked car.
1. Both the Kayseri Airport pickup point and the Izmir Airport drop-off point were not clearly marked, causing quite some confusion.
2. The car provided had an empty fuel tank, and I had to put in some fuel to start it! Finding a gas station immediately after starting the journey is very inconvenient for first-time visitors.
3. The front tires of the car were severely worn out with barely any tread left, which was nerve-wracking during driving.
