I was not happy with the return process. Maybe it’s because I have an Italian driver’s license, but picking up the car wasn’t an issue. Just firmly refuse when they try to push their insurance, and make sure your credit card has a chip. One time I didn’t have a chipped card, and they forced me to buy their insurance. Previously, returning the car at their location had always been smooth, but this time it made me furious! The car was parked under a tree, so there were some bird droppings and leaves on it. The inspector kept saying 'too dirty, too dirty!' and told me I had to pay a cleaning fee! I asked if 5 euros would be enough, and he said it would definitely be more. I was so angry right then! I said, isn’t it normal for the car to get dirty when driving? Don’t you clean it before handing it over to the next customer? He pointed to the dust on the car and said that kind of dirt was acceptable. I was so frustrated! Then I took out a bottle of leftover mineral water, poured it on the car, and used some tissues to wipe it! Even the shuttle bus driver nearby couldn’t stand it. After I wiped it twice, the inspector finally said 'va bene, va bene,' meaning it was fine. I just wanted to write this to remind everyone: pay for what you’re supposed to, but don’t give them a cent more than necessary!
Picking up the car was extremely difficult. After multiple communications with the Zuzuche service specialist, who also communicated with the rental company, we couldn’t locate the shuttle bus. The service specialist suggested I take a taxi to look for the pickup point. The taxi driver drove around the airport for a long time, asking people for directions, and after much effort, we finally found the pickup location. Once there, I was told I couldn’t pick up the car because I didn’t have an international driving license. Later they said I could pick up the car but would need to pay over 200 euros because I lacked the international license. After contacting the Zuzuche service specialist again and receiving their help, I was finally able to get the car. The original plan was to pick up the car at 8 AM, but I didn’t get it until after 10 AM. It turns out this company shares the same office space with a 24-hour rental company.
This is a dishonest company that sets traps throughout the process to make you fall into them. Fortunately, I bought full insurance from Zuzuche, so I wasn't worried, but it was still bothersome dealing with these people. They will tirelessly pitch their insurance to you and often use phrases like 'the police will do this or that' to scare you. If you don't buy their insurance, they will charge a 1200 Euro deposit on your card as a 'purchase' rather than a 'pre-authorization'. We recorded the entire car pickup process, but at return, they still tried to make us sign a damage report for an old scratch the size of a fingernail on the wheel hub. We argued for an hour and refused to sign, finally achieving justice. Even so, the deposit was not refunded until two months later after communication through Zuzuche's customer service. Although we did not incur any losses, we were very disappointed with how Italians treat tourists. We will be more cautious next time we visit.
The car rental company had many customers, which resulted in a long wait of an hour and a half to pick up the car. I was forced to purchase an 88 Euro insurance as the staff did not recognize the insurance bought on Zuzuche.
A supplier to be wary of, expect to be forced to spend 300 euros.
