I have booked several times and always felt the cars provided by the rental company were quite old. During pickup, they insisted on adding an insurance worth over 140 yuan, which could not be carried out according to the original order. The staff at the store said it was mandatory, using the words 'have to.' Moreover, the car I received was very old, full of damage, and was a beat-up vehicle with 50,000 kilometers on it.
I booked a Suburban, but they didn't have the car available and claimed that only a Lincoln Navigator was left, so I ended up taking it. When I returned the car, they charged me an extra $2200, claiming it was due to the change in vehicle type. This amount was even higher than the original rental fee. Thankfully, the rental platform and the car rental company communicated, and the extra charge was refunded. Everyone should be cautious when renting cars to avoid getting trapped by rental company schemes.
At the counter, the staff asked us if we wanted to pay extra to upgrade the vehicle. After we declined, their attitude became very cold, and without our consent, they secretly added a so-called road assistance insurance for $106.80!!! When charged, we asked why, and they said it was a deposit and would be refunded when we returned the car. After picking up the car, we asked customer service and found out it was an added insurance!!! What a scam!!! We will never rent from AVIS again! Liars!!!
Pickup and return were very convenient. We got a hybrid car this time, saving a lot on fuel costs. After returning the car, the system mistakenly showed it wasn't fully fueled, but this was corrected over the phone by a helpful staff member.
