Acarent were little short of excellent. V good value, efficient and helpful. Only negative was that we were told they were in the terminal but in fact they had a courtesy bus to their depot. Luckily we found it as the airport has scores of car hire desks outside.

The car I rented at Heraklion Airport in Crete was the worst out of the four rentals I had on this trip. The car was small and old, almost like a semi-automatic with very basic features. It only had a radio and nothing else. It didn’t even have automatic headlights. I forgot to turn off the headlights once, and the next morning the battery was dead and the car couldn't start. Even a low-end car from 10 years ago would be better. The staff claimed it was a two-year-old car, but it had over 40,000 kilometers on the odometer, and the paint was cracking. On slopes, you have to press hard on the gas pedal, otherwise, the car would roll back.

The car rental company's service was okay! However, I feel that the insurance package provided by our platform has issues. It always seems complicated. This time, my car was scratched by another vehicle, but it wasn't covered in the insurance policy, so I had to pay 610 euros myself. I think it's very troublesome for the platform to provide domestic insurance services due to language barriers, reporting issues, etc. They also advised against buying the rental company's insurance, so I ended up being the guinea pig! It's better to book directly through the official website.

Generally okay but let down over the childs seat. Was offered two different types on collection but didn’t know which type to take as my daughter arrived late that night. Agent advised to take one type but he’d make sure that the other was available to change to that night if needed. On going to change it that night the agent at the desk had no knowledge of it and no alternative car seat. Being over an hour away from Heraklion it would have meant a return two hour trip to switch the next day. Very unimpressive.

The car pickup location is extremely hard to find, very hidden and far away. I have rented cars nearly ten times abroad, and this is the first time I encountered a rental company that requires extra attention to the car's interior cleanliness. If they find any trash, water stains, or sand on the seats, they will fine you 80 euros (and even suggest you pay ten euros to wash the car outside before returning it), which adds unnecessary inconvenience to travel. One female staff member had inconsistent car inspection standards, so make sure to take extra photos. The other male staff members were okay. The car was not rented with a full tank, making it difficult to control how much fuel to refill, which is very inconvenient. The rental company tries to scare you by saying local traffic accidents are common to sell insurance and pointed out that off-road scenarios are not covered by insurance. However, many beaches in Crete involve off-road driving; are we supposed to walk there to avoid dehydration!? I suggest avoiding this rental company.

We had already paid the rental fee and full insurance in advance. At pickup, one attendant asked us to pay a 730-euro deposit with a credit card or give him 30 euros in cash. We chose to pay the 730-euro deposit with a credit card. The attendant then said the card didn't go through. Another attendant came and demanded an additional 45 euros for windshield insurance before giving us the car. We offered 30 euros, but the original attendant denied asking for money. We were forced to buy the 45-euro windshield insurance. When we asked to cancel the reservation, they said no refunds. This way, we ended up paying more and the rental cost increased by 70%. Surprisingly, the same credit card went through immediately for the 45-euro charge, showing the issue with the deposit was fake.

Great from start to finish, flight was delayed we called to let them know, no issues upon collection. I liked the fact they also had staff outside who gave you the car and collected it back at the end of the rental so you dont have to mess about going back and forth to the desk. The car was also great, good spec.

Regarding this car rental: 1) When I went to pick up the car, I wanted to use a Visa card with a UnionPay logo as previously agreed upon, but the staff said this card could only be used for payment and not as a guarantee. They insisted I pay 73 euros for insurance, which we haven't experienced in other countries. 2) The staff had a bad attitude.

When I arrived at the store, they said I couldn’t rent a car with my driver's license. I have used my Chinese driver’s license, notarized Chinese document, and translation to rent cars abroad at least 10 times, including at least 4-5 times in Europe, and this is the first time I've heard that it can't be used. The staff at the car rental company spent half a day on the phone trying to sort it out, but it still didn't work. It wasted at least 2 hours. From daylight until it got dark, my wife and kids were waiting at the pier, it was a real hassle. Later, I asked at Enterprise and Hertz, and they both said it was fine to rent, but Europcar said it wasn't, which is absolutely terrible.

They recommended I buy full insurance, but since I had already purchased full insurance on Zuzuche, I didn't buy it. However, I needed to provide a deposit of over 900 euros. I tried three different foreign currency cards (magstripe), but none of them worked. They required a foreign currency card with a chip in my name; other people's cards wouldn't work, even though one of my companions had a chipped card. The staff said if I paid 50 euros (for 2 days) for their full insurance, they would waive the deposit requirement. Reluctantly, I paid the 50 euros. The same issue with magstripe cards happened again at the car rental company at Athens airport (a different company). This time, we used my companion's card to pay the deposit and successfully picked up the car.

La voiture n était pas conforme à la réservation. Un sur coût de location de 144€ lié au refus de l’agence de faire une empreinte sur ma carte Gold pour la caution, plus 350€ en cache pour la garantie. Prise en otage soit nous payons, soit nous payons l’annulation de réservation Garantie qui a été retenue lors de la restitution, suite à une éraflure sur le parc choc, quid de l’assurance ???

The car was new and in good condition. We have got an upgrade since all cars from the requested category were gone. I understand Crete is dusty due to a lot road's being unpaved.But it was not very clean in general. We had to wait for more than an hour at the airport until someone from Centauro came with the shuttle van to takes us. The drop off was very quick with no issues. Refunds of fuel and deposit all ok.

Apart from the fact that I received an update to the upper category as soon as I arrived at Centauro front desk (no extra cost), the car was a BRAND NEW Fiat Panda with 900 km on the clock. The service was excellent from both the mini van driver that took me to the pick up station (less than one minute from Heraklion Airport) and the sweet lady that arranged everything at the front desk. Would definitely recommend hiring from this car hire company. Brand new fleet at unbelievable prices.

I've had to mark everything as 'Terrible' because, despite booking a VW Polo (automatic) or equivalent 9 months in advance of my arrival, no suitable car was available on the day. I was told that if I wanted an automatic car (which obviously I did as that's what I'd booked) I could either have a Smart car (wouldn't fit my luggage) or a Mercedes Vito (7 seater minibus). Obviously neither were suitable. I was told I'd have to wait until the next day for a suitable car - also not acceptable as my resort was a 1 hour drive from the airport. I was eventually offered a choice of 3 larger manual cars. Of course, I was forced to accept one - a battered up old Ford Focus. What a treat, thanks Keddy by Europcar. I don't drive a manual car at home so wasn't keen on doing so in a foreign country - hence I'd booked an auto. The company was not willing to compensate us financially as the Focus was in a higher bracket to a Polo. Hardly a benefit when you want a small car you can swing through the tight roads and park without fear. Needless to say I didn't get the use out of the car that I expected, as I wasn't comfortable driving it...

We received a new Opel which was great. The representative told us to take pictures of any damage rather than come out and inspect it with us. There were no issues at drop off with the damage we saw at pickup. They charge an extra fee for offhour drop off at the airport despite that there were multiple representatives who were already at the counter when we arrived to drop off the car. We also had to wait for them to go to the parking lot and inspect the car.

They gave me a car slightly smaller than what I booked - Hyundai i10 instead of Toyota Yaris. I also didn't like that the fuel tank was not full and they told me to bring it back with about the same fuel level - very bad practice.

Instructions on how to find it were not clear and really they should have someone at the airport with a sign at all times (our flight was delayed). There was a large additional fee for no-risk cover and the woman serving us did not explain it well - wish I could have known about that in advance. The fuel hold also was not removed and there was a huge queue. We were offered an upgraded car which was great, and we loved the vehicle.

Voiture livrée avec voyant de charge de batterie en alerte voyant rouge (jusque là on peu comprendre) mais il a fallu négocier pour une autre voiture avec insistance et subir des explications incohérentes du type "c'est normal la voiture est neuve", "elle reste parquée parfois longtemps" ... toujours agréable de se faire prendre pour un imbécile ! Après une deuxième heure d'attente nous avons pu obtenir un autre véhicule. Comme annoncé sur la plate forme on nous à proposer une assurance supplémentaire correspondant à 4 fois le prix de la location.

Navette à notre arrivée à l’aeroprt Nous conduisant au centre de location en 5 minutes. Par contre au comptoir on a essayé de nous vendre une assurance supplémentaire à 150€ pour éviter la caution à 1000€, les 242€ en cas de rayure, 100€ d’appel téléphonique en cas d’assistance, 142€ si le plein de carburant n’est pas fait. Nous avons résisté au discours «stressant » puisque easyrentcars comprend une assurance.
