A Very Unpleasant Car Rental Experience
Picking up the car was fine, but the problem occurred when returning it. The female staff checking the car barely looked at it and immediately pointed out a damage spot about 5cm under the left front door. This area was not noted as having any scratches when we picked up the car, so the rental company insisted we caused the damage.
We are sure there was no collision. Honestly, during the pickup, the rental staff barely reviewed the car with us, and we were quite thorough ourselves. However, none of us thought to check such a small area. Unfortunately, that's where the issue appeared.
We couldn't argue our case. To avoid delaying our journey, we had to accept it. But the fine they imposed was outrageous. They didn’t explain everything at once; first, they said the repair fee was 1,820 Croatian Kuna (HRK, with 1 HRK = 1.067 RMB). Later, they added tax, then a repair handling fee. In total, they charged us 3,045 HRK, around 3,250 RMB. Such a tiny spot cost us a significant amount. This company is truly a rip-off. (See pictures below)
