Picked up the car in Marseille, France, very smooth process. Rented a Golf but got a Peugeot 3008 instead, which had more space and better performance, and it was automatic. However, renting late made it expensive, and the one-way rental fee was high, totaling 7300 for 6 days. Met some fellow travelers who returned the car in the same city, costing much less, and they got a Mercedes.
“Easyrentcars was a very smooth process. Hertz was a long wait at pick-up but otherwise excellent.”
About Hertz:9.7/10
Very long queue at the counter. Had to wait nearly an hour to pick the car up. However, the process itself was very smooth, the car was exactly as described, pretty much brand new and very clean.
I had a discussion at return, as they inspected the car and told me all is OK, then they charged me for missing fuel. I was still in airport so I went back to the office in parking and I was told indicator was missing a line. I shown them the receipt of refuelling which was consistent with the km of the rental, and told them the gun was clicking out showing full tank and indicator was probably faulty.
Only after a long discussion with another employee the charge was removed from my invoice.
The car listing showed Standard Crossover, Peugeot 3008 or similar. But the actual car was a Toyota CHR which is much smaller both in terms of seating capacity and luggage. And the navigation system was faulty.
I booked for a Peugeot 2008 but it was not available. I was given a car of the same class, Fiat 500x, but with a trunk way smaller. The car was really thing for my luggages.
The car I rented had a flat tire. After putting on the spare, I drove to another Hertz location, and they replaced the car right away. Great service. The only downside is that Hertz's phone service is quite inefficient, but that's common among car rental companies.
The vehicle was in good condition, and the rental and return process was convenient. However, it seems like we didn't receive a formal receipt when returning the car; they just verbally confirmed it was OK. Not sure if there will be any issues later. The price through QEEQ was much more affordable.
