This trip was for 6 people, and we booked a 7-seater. Upon arrival, the staff informed us that they only had 5-seaters available and that we needed a 7-seater to accommodate 6 people. We had tickets for a specific time slot at the Boeing Factory and had only allocated 1 hour for pick-up. After much urging, the staff arranged a 7-seater, which delayed us by an hour. We reached the factory just 1 minute before our scheduled tour.
Overall, the process was fairly smooth and mostly self-service, so there wasn't much interaction with staff. After completing the paperwork at pick-up, we went to the parking lot to find our car, and a staff member simply parked it next to us and left. For returning the car at JFK, we just dropped the key at the service desk. However, four hours after returning the car, in the middle of the night while on a flight, my credit card was unexpectedly charged $100. Customer service has been following up, but after four days, there's still no response from the rental company. I was about to book another rental for next week, but now I’m hesitant and unsure. I hope to receive a prompt resolution.
For this self-driving trip in Hawaii, we rented cars from both Hertz and Alamo for comparison. Hertz was over 100 RMB more expensive per day, but the service was average, especially since there was only one car available and we couldn't choose. Each time, it took an hour of conversation to exchange cars, which felt somewhat intentional due to the language barrier. The only advantage was the lower number of people and the high frequency of shuttle buses.
