Waiting over 40 Minutes for car to be available as they didn't have any of the type we booked in the lot and didn't want to upgrade etc. it was tiring.
More worryingly they have posted an additional charge to my credit card with no explanation. It just labeled as no packaged item charge and it's added $24.17 to my card. I have tried to find no it what it's for but no clue. We declined any and everything they offered and relied on the fact we'd pre booked and paid for everything with QEEQ. Have asked for QEEQ to try and fine out what the charges are for. Fingers crossed some one will explain or arrange for refund if they are not right.
The pickup service was truly awful. Waiting in line for three and a half hours in the middle of the night was torturous. They switched me to a high fuel consumption car without notifying me. The license plate number and rental time on the receipt were incorrect. Even after the car was prepared and the engine was running, they didn’t inform me, unnecessarily making me wait an extra hour. Additionally, there were old scratches on the car, but no inspection process was performed.
Terrible, disrespectful, unprofessional AVIS station at JFK. I will never use it again. People waiting over an hour at 11PM after trans-Atlantic flights, tired, indifferent employees who couldn't care less. Shameful.
About QEEQ:10.0/10
No complaints at all, everything was as described . Well done.
Avis could have been more flexible if the car that we chose is not available, better if they can give us a refund on the difference, but in my case, they won't even entertain us.
Avis service was mediocre. The reserved car model was almost unavailable, and I only got a car after strongly insisting and waiting for half an hour. When picking up and returning the car, make sure to take photos of the fuel gauge as evidence, as Avis tends to arbitrarily deduct fuel charges from the deposit.
The staff were not very friendly, no smiles, and showed indifference during both pickup and dropoff; but the biggest issue is that almost every time, the booked car model doesn't match the actual one provided. Booked a Toyota Camry but was given a Chevrolet, which was dirty and only hastily rinsed before pickup, leaving water droplets everywhere. Particularly, the car's power was very weak—it required flooring the gas pedal just to get up a small hill. When I asked why I was given a Chevrolet instead of the Camry I booked, they said it's the same class, but the driving experience felt vastly different from any Camry I’ve driven before. After years of renting cars abroad, this was hands down the worst experience I've had so far.
