The service was okay, but the wait time for picking up the car was too long. The car model was quite different from what was booked, and there were not enough reminders about details like where to return the car. We were supposed to get a baby seat but didn't receive one; to their credit, they didn't charge us for it later.
At PHL: The service staff was great but the organization is absolutely horrible. People were in line for more than 30 minutes. The staff did everything they can but with completely outdated computer systems and archaic booking methods, it was not easy to respond to large crowds.
At BOS: though the website said 24 hours open, there wasn't anyone when I dropped the car. No instructions, no guidance, no pointers. At least a courtesy note would have helped. I went all the way to Hertz service side to ask a random contractor if I can leave the car and keys and walk away. Absolutely horrible, especially for weary travelers.
Lady behind the counter told the man in front of us he needed to buy insurance and he refused saying it was included. When it was our turn we were told we weren't covered by any insurance and to buy some through dollar, I refused. She then offered to prepay for fuel even though that was already included through easyrentcars.
When she actually processed the booking she couldn't avoid the fact it said that insurance was included that she tried to pretend wasn't there.
The cars in our section were all old and there was only about 3-4 of them.
Would never go through Dollar again.
I rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee and ended up getting a GMC Terrain and didn´t get the baby seats I requested. At the counter I was not informed that I was getting a different car. It was only when I got to the garage to pick up the vehicle that I was told to choose any of the cars (in the same category) that were parked there... I was a bit shocked. First I chose a Pathfinder that suited me very well but after putting all our luggage in and starting the car a message came up on the panel ¨key - low battery¨.... went to the company booth and was told they didn´t have a replacement battery so I had to choose another car. What a nightmare. I then chose the Terrain a which had less space then what I needed. The car was good and clean but space was crutial in our trip and the overall experiance with Dollar was bad.
