Overall service was satisfactory, but the only drawback was the shuttle bus after returning the car dropped us off at the domestic terminal, which required a long walk. The driver clearly knew we were international tourists and could have dropped us off at the international terminal but didn't even ask, which felt somewhat intentional. By the way, our family of four were the only passengers in the vehicle.

The cars are not at airport and we had to take shuttle bus for 15 mins. Waiting time for shuttle meant that total 30 mins was spent getting to counter and keys

You only need a driver's license issued by a contracting country of the 1949 Geneva Convention and an IDP. The passport doesn't need to be issued by the same country.

Car and staff were good and friendly. Good thing i booked and got a 4wd prius as i believe that is super helpful to drive in snow (without ice chain on wheels). Car infotaiment wasnt friendly. Ended up without music most of the time and only occasional radio every now amd then in the city

It is better if there is a new car or not too aged car to be offered, since this time they had reserved a car which is run over 20k km already. But the staff in Japan service is good and polite, just the location of car pick up and drop off in Sapporo seems too far away from Airport.
