The claim of goldcar was they don’t recognize this order like SUV and in their company it counts like F group so we received Fiat Tipo SW with no option to change so this is not SUV and of course not similar to Alfa Romeo Stelvio class.

Pick up terms designed to scare customer into purchasing insurance also got under my skin, literally said any small scratch would be at least 430 euros which is absurd. Drop off process was normal.

The driver of the shuttle misdirected us to the wrong place to return the car, then when we asked him to drop us in T2 instead of T1 (a couple of minutes away), he just said "rules are the rules". The charges did not relate to the QEEQ quote and were not adequately explained. Additional driver cost of €77.52 was not made clear. No idea why €80 was pending payment. No idea why we have been charged £68.49 since we returned home. Assume the £20.78 we have also been charged was for motorway tolls?? The car provided was a Seat Ibiza with 65,000kms on the clock. It was showing warning lights due to a faulty headlight. It was not in good mechanical order and was very noisy and sluggish under acceleration particularly uphill. We were surprised that it kept going for 2 weeks and over 1,000kms!

The car was brand new but the engine was noisy and seemed to have trouble shifting gears even though it was an automatic and I was always driving exactly the speed limit. I was pressured into buying $600 in insurance for the one-week rental because they said that if there was even a small nick in the paint from a rock I would owe tens of thousands of Euros. The woman at the sales desk wrote down some huge numbers of fines that I would be charged. I returned the car with 600 km of mileage and in perfect condition -- but I had been pressured to buy a ridiculous amount of insurance. I will not rent from them again.

I rented a Mercedes A class. They gave me a KIA which according to Keddy/Europcar is similar. Probably first country in the world where a KIA is similar to a Mercedes. I paid for a Mercedes and didn't get it. They also said that your insurance would give me problems if I would have an accident so I needed to buy their insurance. Had to wait almost 2 hours before I was helped. Very bad!!

I want to start by saying that this was the worse car rental experience of my life. I rented a minivan. It took over 3 hours of waiting in line before I could get the car. And, it was all downhill from there. On the second day, after our day trip, we were headed to Castro Marim. However, right when we were ready to leave, the minivan started showing me a "service required" light. I had to drive all the way to the airport to swap out the car for another minivan. Our trip to Castro Marim was delayed by 2+ hours and we didn't get there until past midnight. But that's not all of it, the 2nd minivan we got was even worse. About an hour into our drive, it started showing me all sorts of warning lights on the dashboard, including, "Brake System Failure", "Stop", and more. The lights in the entire car were flashing every few mins. It was really scary and traumatizing for everyone in the car. We pulled over multiple times and restarted the car (as instructed), which resolved the issue each time. However, when we got to our rental house, the car died right at the gate blocking other cars from getting into the property. We had to drag all of our luggage through a long path in the middle of the night. The next morning I got in touch with customer service, who arranged for a tow truck to pick up the car and a taxi to pick me up and drive me to Faro airport to pick up yet another minivan. This 3rd car had a broken sunroof shade and made our drive very uncomfortable. I chose to pay a premium on a car rental to ensure we would avoid these types of issues. However, that was not the case. I was in Portugal for 5 days with my family and lost about a day and a half because of all these issues with the cars. Again, this was the worse car rental experience of my life. I am considering posting reviews with my experience on the 3rd party sites. Contacted Alamo/Guerin multiple times but they have not gotten back to me.

The car itself was fine but on returning I had the car inspected. It was visually inspected and stated the condition was fine , the condition on fuel full to full it was confirmed this was fine on return. I requested as final invoice but the company stated it could not do this as there were road tolls to consider. It was stated that I would be email a invoice with in seven days. As I thought this never arrived and my bank statement shows I was invoice for £50 pound followed by £19 pounds. The £19 pounds I suspect was for road tolls the £ 50 pound was I suspect a spurious charge that the company are trying there luck on. This company if you look at there reviews have a very poor history of doing this but overall life is too short and its only £ 50 pounds . I will just have to be more careful in the future and not hire from the company again, As a overall review of how car hire operates car hire companies operate they request we sign for the condition of the vehicle , the vehicle is full of fuel and for any damages. Would it not be fair for the car hire company to also sign for this on return. I did ask for this but it was refused when I returned the car. Overall poor performance as £ 50 pound was taken from my account with no justification , no final invoice supplied and I personally think the company is just taking me for a ride but to be honest I can't do with the hassle of fighting it so I will live with it but will never use the company again - bit short sighted if you ask me. Any comment would be gratefully received and if you would like to justify the £ 50 was take as well as the £ 19 taken it would be an insight and we could take it from there

The car was great...modern with sat nav and clean inside and out. The pick up process was DISGRACEFUL. We arrived at the desk at 9.45am to utter chaos and crowds of people queueing. By their own admission they had to turn around 300 cars that morning with only 6 staff on the desks. It took a full hour before our turn (the lady was lovely) and then another 45mins to wait upstairs while the car was being washed despite being told it would just be 5 mins. We had booked our collection for 10am so I asked why the car wasn't ready when it was 11.45am. The guy said it was our fault for not being there at 10am so they had given our car to someone else. Well excuse me but the reason we weren't there was the queue downstairs!!! When I asked him about compensation for the long wait he was rude and aggressive saying he had no authority(despite being in charge) to authorise anything and I should go back downstairs to speak to the manager. Back down to that chaos-I think not as he was surrounded by other angry customers the last time I saw him. It really ruined the start of our holiday. After a long flight and early start, waiting for nearly 2 hours is a disgrace. The return process was easy and took just over 10 mins. Suely if the company know they have a huge turnover then it is not rocket science to plan more staff!! So many angry customers...im surprised anyone uses them....I certainly wont again.
