I have experienced Europcar before, they advertise a nice car and then usually offer a substantially lower model as the or similar e.g. this year I rented a Kashqai and got a Renault Kajar, last year a Merc E class and got a Volvo V90 and so on, I will try to avoid them in future as its an obvious sales tactic. I upgraded to a Merc C class that was good.
Vehicle was very good.
Communications with AVIS was very difficult (following picking up car). I wished to extend the period of hire with AVIS but this proved impossible as I was unable to contact the Newcastle airport branch via the telephone.
Excellent check in and drop off process. Very efficient. Finding the avis pickup location was slightly difficult as there was no one at the counter and the directions to the location were unclear. However, the rest of the process was very smooth and no upsell of insurance was attempted..
The car at Keddys exceeded my expectations, the guy in the office was very efficient and pleasant.
Totally nice experience.
The drop off was just as pleasant.
Budget was fine, the only issue I had with Budget was the car completely smelled of smoke for the entire time I had it, if it wasn't for the fact it was all they had in my category I would have changed it.
The Hertz premises at Newcastle station are in a very inconvenient location on the wrong side of the station and at the foot of a steep street. Hertz’s competitors have offices on the station forecourt and are much more accessible.
I was pleased to get a better car than I expected.
Staff at airport were very pleasant and efficient. There's a 5 minute walk from the terminal building to collect the car. Once given the keys I was on my way. Smooth, quick efficient process from start to finish.
Landing at NCL with 6 people, 1 with a child seat, it's not too convenient for the driver to go to the Ponteland office then drive back to collect everyone. Why not bring the car to the airport?
Was charged more than additional quote scammed by insurance and upgrade, was charged £84 for a £20 park fine, took from bank with no permission and still never got my £100 hold deposit back
They charged me an extra £72 to get the vehicle and after a long flight from Florida I accepted this... they showed me round the outside of the vehicle but not inside ...
When I returned the vehicle there was a chip inside they said the seatbelt had hit it !!!! My daughter never even sat at that side in the back as she always sits behind me driving..... they charged me £232 !!!!! If I could attach a photo I would ...... they are conmen and it was daylight robbery... the man at the desk was rude to the point my daughter got upset, I had to pay as had a flight to catch.... will never ever use this company again .... absolutely disgusting!!!!! And I hire cars all the time
The worst service ever! Had to wait approx. half an hour at the counter with a little baby despite of having only one person in front. Overcharged for a minor damage to a wheel I do not remember making. It took another half an hour to return the car, despite of being the only customer.
Was left arguing at the counter for 45 minutes whilst a toddler sat outside.
Paid in full yet left without a car was told incorrectly that Easy rent did not have a UK contact number and was left with the choice of paying £186 extra or leaving with nothing. I was left without any way of getting to work for the following week despite having paid in full in advance 0/10.
Like: Picking up the car was painless, I was expecting lots of paperwork and hassle but this was not the case. I was dealt with in a friendly manner and very efficiently. Would highly recommend. The vehicle I was given was superb and tempted to buy one now Dislike: Everything was perfect.
