Very unpleasent checkin to collect the car. The person at the counter tried to agressively sell their own insurance. When I mentioned that I already purchesed EasyRentCars Super Insurance, he started to warn me that: - AXA won't cover any damages. - Road Assistance was not possible because no one except their insurance company would be allowed to touch that car, even in case of accident. - I had to pay 2.180 Euro upfront as a franchise aginst possible damages. When I said that I wouldn't have to pay, that it was just a deposit, he said that ok, but it'd be retained for 1 month until release. When I complained about all that misleading information, he said that I was "making a bad start", that any damage would have a charge of minimum 800€, and in case of 2 damages, they would keep the whole deposit of over 2.000€. Of course I didn't buy his kind "warnings", handed my credit card, and left for the car. My surprise came when I found the car, completely new and really well kept... only that it was not my car. I rented a 9 seater car, and there were 2 identical units, blue colored Fiat Talento. But mine was in a poor condition, with damages on the four sides, one of them really considerable. I attach the picture here. I cannot help thinking that he gave me the worst possible unit because I didn't buy their insurance. And now the good part: The staff at the parking were really helpful to report the damages prior I drove the vehicle. And at drop-off, the lady who checked the car was really nice and helpful. It was a pity that the staff at the checkin counter was so rude and ruined what, in the end, could have been a nice experience. By the way, kudos to FIAT for a nice performing van.

When I got to the counter, the young man who attended to me told me that what I had acquired was a franchise, that I had to put in an insurance. The one I had hired was not serving and if i had the amount they were going to hold me for 28 days.With a 3-year-old at 12 o't at night, I was cornered and had to buy the insurance. They didn’t want to rent me the car I booked. They have said to me that my driving licence and my credit card are not from the same country. I have explain that this is part of my job and my other credit card is not valid that day. I also showed them my Spanish residency card but they weren’t satisfied with my documents. Although a month earlier managed to rent car from same company. The attitude of the lady how I dealt with that day was terrible. Definitely needs to be trained on how to deal with customer. I asked for her name to complain and she refused to give it to me. I explained that names should be shown on badges and not something to hide. She said this comes under personal protection program lol. Any way I left that company and managed to rent cat from different one with no complications. Worst car rental company I dealt with so far, So AVOID it.

Car pick-up: Not too bad Car drop-off: Terrible (to the point that I don't even want to use Hertz again) Car pick-up was way longer than expected. It's normal to wait for awhile but that day was very crowded and service was relatively slow. Service personel was kind and friendly but didn't give us the mini van (or equivalent) as stated on our booking voucher. Instead, we had a much smaller car, a Toyota CHR. We were not too happy about that. Car drop-off service was terrible. It took more than 30 mins. I waited for more than 10 mins after asking someone to help me. Then went into the office, I was ignored by 4 service personels for more than 5 mins - all pretending that I wasn't standing in front of them. I asked for help again and someone said that a specific Hertz lady would assist me. She was busy at that time, handling a rather difficult customer. At the 20mins or so mark, she came to me with extremely foul attitude to tell me to park the car in a extremely tight lot (when she parked the car for the previous customer). With her fault mood directed at me, her words and actions were unprofessional. At this point, I was boiling and pissed. I gathered myself to patiently park the car and subsequently after that called her out on her bad attitude. I told her that it's unacceptable to bring her previous customer issues and anger upon me and it was entirely unprofessional. I honestly have not met with such poor service from any of the other car companies. And this was not the first time I have had experience such poor service with Hertz. Overall, service standards were appalling. Terrible attitude from service staff, no initiative from service crew when there were 6 of them and long waiting time.

The check-in process was very smooth. We were delighted to be offered an upgrade that was more spacious (a touring van). This suited our needs perfectly. However, please give yourself extra time for the return at the Madrid Barajas airport (Terminal 1). There was 1 person jockeying between the desk AND the return lane. We waited over 15 minutes for the return, eating into our window of extra time for the airport. National, get more people working there during peak hours.

The guy over the counter tried to charge me 30 euros saying that I took a fast track number to avoid the queue after waiting for 1 hour! They also charged me a called 16 euros premium fee, the car was dirty and dented, the counter guy didn’t give me the right directions to get to the car, he was rude and unpleasant, if possible avoid Goldar Rhodium ACE and intercar they are all the same group and their customer service is really bad they try to rip you off all the time.

I booked an economy (Corsa or similar), but was initially given a Fiat 500 (I had a total of 800 km to drive, hence did not want a micro), which I managed to avoid and was finally given a Toyota Yaris instead. The guy at the desk was very eagerly trying to sell me additional insurance, claiming that the all covering extra insurance I had (taken at the time of bookin; insurance by AXA) would be useless if something happened. The car was in a very poor condition with all corners scratched heavily, the front spoiler skirt almost falling off and a big dent/scratch extending from the passenger front door all the way to the back. Only 6 scratches were listed and as I felt being rushed out of the office I took photos/videos of all visible defects (later realized that I didn't even manage to spot all of these). At least managed to convince the guy at the parking-office (not at the counter) to come to check the car with me before taking off. Hesitantly he came and very briefly looked around the car and listed three additional defects on the paperwork. Was it someone with less experience with cars instead of me, none of those would have been listed. At least on returning the car I was verbally given an "all good", so hopefully, no further expenses will be claimed from me.

The car was fine and the staff very helpful. The hire location is close to Plaza Espana in a narrow one way street, currently exacerbated by major building works. It can be challenging to collect and return the vehicle with so little space to manoeuvre - a skip full of rubble was being passed over the car as we were trying to hand it back and the traffic was horribly backed up. If europcar could arrange a separate secure area for pickup and return it would be great.

Worst experience ever renting a car. Rhodium is a US company with exactly 0 cars of it's own. They use GoldCar to supply customers with vehicles. Unbelievable and completely unavoidable hidden costs. Airport surcharge, not communicated in original booking price as all other legal and ethical companies communicate. You have to choose one of their insurances, this means that if you have credit card benefit covering rentals that's null and void and you need to pay for theirs. The staff do their best, but they work for an unethical company and have the huge challenge of convincing you the misinformation and lies the company policies include are standard and should have been expected...wouldn't want their job. If you have any sense avoid Rhodium or Gold Car who services them for that matter.

Got sent here there and everywhere by staff at Madrid airport and eventually found the office on a different floor! Mentioned this to the man on the counter and he just shrugged and said they knew it was wrong! He was very rude, in a bad mood, unhelpful, not at all friendly, very pushy trying to sell me insurance I already had and told me they were blocking one amount from my card and then blocked more. He also lied to me, telling me the amount would be blocked for 30 days, trying again to get me to sign for the insurance. When I returned the car they confirmed the balance would be unblocked within 2-3 days!
